MEDIA ADVISORY: GOODWIN UNIVERSITY NURSING SIMULATION CENTER "WALL-BREAKING" SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 28
East Hartford, CT (04/14/2025) — Construction on Goodwin University's new Nursing Simulation Center will launch at 12 pm on Monday, April 28, 2025, with a "wall-breaking" at the school's main academic building, One Riverside Drive, East Hartford, Connecticut. The Center will feature integrated simulation technology for Goodwin's RN, BSN, and MSN programs, providing immersive learning experiences that reflect real-life scenarios for Nursing students. Construction is expected to be completed by the fall 2025 semester.
The construction launch will include remarks from University leaders including President Mark Scheinberg, Dr. Vivienne Friday, Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions, and Janice Watts, RN, founding director of Goodwin's Nursing program. Faculty, staff, current students, and Nursing alumni will also attend. The highlight of the event will be a "wall-breaking" through one of the existing classrooms as the first step of this extensive renovation project.
Capital Studio Architects, LLC, long-time collaborators with the University, have created the comprehensive architectural designs for the Center, which include hospital-simulated learning environments, an advanced simulation lab suite, cutting-edge virtual reality systems, and comprehensive labs designed to address the Four Spheres of Care as outlined by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Renderings of the floor design will be displayed throughout the space for viewing during the event. There will also be information available to learn about naming and giving opportunities to support the renovation as well as Goodwin University's Nursing students.
