Connecticut River Academy Shines at Aspirations in Computing Awards

East Hartford, CT (03/21/2022) — East Hartford, CT - The team from Connecticut River Academy (CTRA) at Goodwin University made a great showing at the 2022 "Aspirations in Computing (AiC) Awards," an initiative of the National Center for Women & Technology (NCWIT). A non-profit community, NCWIT unites change leader organizations to increase the participation of women in the field of computing, particularly innovation and development. Before NCWIT was chartered in 2004 by the National Science Foundation, programs focusing on women and computing existed largely without the benefit of shared best practices, effective resources, communication with others, or national reach. Today, the NCWIT community is creating a far greater impact in these areas.

Receiving honors at the AiC Awards were CTRA scholars Nomaries Ocasia (National Certificate of Distinction), Yanna Cruz Tavera (Connecticut Honorable Mention), Shelsey Jimenez Rodriguez (Connecticut Honorable Mention), Skye Lyons (Connecticut Honorable Mention), Amelie August (Connecticut Honorable Mention), and Amina Rasool (Connecticut Rising Star). In addition, CTRA Technology Educator Priya Rajagopalreceived the Aspirations in Computing Educator Award, conferred upon educators who have demonstrated a commitment to encouraging young women's aspirations in computing.
