Goodwin College Student Daniel Baker Named Mentor for Summer Bridge Academy

Hartford, CT resident Daniel Baker has been named a mentor of Goodwin College's renowned Summer Bridge Academy, a program that helps students make the transition from high school to higher education.

Baker is enrolled at Goodwin College and participated in the 2011 Summer Bridge Academy as a student. Now with a year of college experience, Goodwin has selected Baker to assist graduating high school seniors to learn the skills and techniques that will make them successful at the next level.

Summer Bridge Academy is a vigorous program extending over a six-week session. Participating students can gain up to six college credits in Contemporary Music and Urban Limits. Additionally, students receive instruction in leadership development and both Math and English "Boot Camps" designed to bring their skills to college readiness.

Baker is one of seven students selected as a mentor. In 2011, the program graduated 45 students, with the vast majority continuing their education at Goodwin College.

The 2012 Summer Bridge Academy continues to enroll students. Classes begin on July 3.
