April Kelly Graduates From Goodwin College

2014 Jul 2

Goodwin College celebrated the Class of 2014 on Saturday, June 7, with all the Pomp and Circumstance befitting the 578 new graduates.

April Kelly was among the many Navigators to complete a degree and receive their due. The ceremony, held on Goodwin College's River Campus, brought in thousands of people to celebrate the graduates and share in their accomplishments.

Speaking to the Goodwin graduates, College President Mark Scheinberg lauded their struggles, hard work, and accomplishment, saying he wanted to "treasure and canonize you a bit."

"Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your lives," Scheinberg said.

The College congratulates April for completing a degree and being a member of the Class of 2014.

During the Ceremony, honorary degree recipient John Lewis, a leader in American Civil Rights who spoke alongside Martin Luther King Jr. and is currently serving as a Georgia Congressman, urged the graduates to vote and to get into "necessary trouble."

"Be bold! Be courageous! Speak out! Speak out. Never hate. Be hopeful. Be optimistic. Be happy. The way of love, the way of peace is a better way," Lewis said.

Coach Jim Calhoun, also an honorary degree recipient, urged the students to use their voices to aid their fellow man.

"You never stand so tall as when you stoop to help another," Calhoun said.
